Body found in Briton Ferry park and family of missing man Darren Stott are told of the discovery

The body of a man has been found by members of the public in Jersey Park in Briton Ferry.

No official identification has yet taken place but the family of missing man Darren Stott have been told of the discovery.

The 35-year-old from Neath , also known as Daz or Gomez, was last known to have walked his Staffordshire bull terrier to a pharmacy in Neath on Wednesday, October 2 , before returning to his home in New Henry Street.

He then left without his phone, wallet, or other belongings and hasn’t been seen or heard from since.

Friends of Mr Stott, who is originally from Aldershot, became concerned when he failed to turn up for work on Friday, October 4, at the Rock and Fountain pub in Neath, where he occasionally did shifts in the kitchen.

The family of Darren Stott have been informed of the discovery of a body in Jersey Park, Briton Ferry (South Wales Evening Post)

Mr Stott stopped working full time because of his depression and anxiety, for which he had been receiving treatment for a number of years.

Mr Stott’s brother, Paul, had issued an emotional appeal to his younger sibling following his disappearance.

“His mum, myself and his friends are worried sick. We just want his safe return," he said.

A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "A body was found by members of the public yesterday afternoon on the bridleway in Jersey Park.

"Although official identification has not yet taken place the family of Darren Stott has been informed."
