A police investigation has been launched after a body was found inside a suitcase in a London canal. Officers were called to the Grand Union canal in west London at about 2.30pm on Sunday, along with members of the marine policing unit and fire brigade.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan police said officers had not yet identified the body and that investigations were ongoing. “At this early stage, the death is being treated as suspicious,” he said. “Detectives from homicide and major crime command are investigating and police are working to discover the identity of the deceased.”
No arrests have been made and a postmortem examination will be held in due course.
