Body found in shallow Melbourne grave identified by police

Mr Goodwin's body was found in a shallow grave in an abandoned property in Tyabb.

A body found in a shallow grave in Melbourne's south-east on Monday has been identified as that of 39-year-old Jade Goodwin.

Police said Mr Goodwin was buried at the vacant rural property on Dandenong-Hastings road in Tyabb on Sunday shortly after 9:00pm.

They said it was believed he was last seen alive on October 13.

On Monday, Bruce Thompson, who has lived across the street from the property for 18 years, said he had previously reported "dodgy stuff" going on at the property to police.

"It's become a dumping ground and rubbish and cars have been dumped there," he said.

"There's comings and goings, you just don't know about. You don't ask questions.

"Obviously some dodgy stuff has gone on. I've reported it to the police and they said they'd keep an eye on it."

The nine-hectare property had been vacant for about 12 months and the real estate agents who were handling the sale of the property spoke briefly to investigators before driving off on Monday.

Police urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.

"Investigators would like to speak to anyone who saw Jade between October 13 and October 22 or anything of interest at the property or around Dandenong-Hastings road," Victoria Police spokesperson Alex Day said in a statement.
