Body found in search of missing Scots pensioner who vanished over two months ago

A body has been found in the search for a missing Scots pensioner who disappeared over two months ago.

Police were called to the grim discovery near Spey Valley in Aviemore at 2.30pm yesterday.

While formal identification is yet to take place, the family of missing James Brannan has been made aware.

Police say that the death is not being treated as suspicious.

The 72-year-old was last seen during the late afternoon of Saturday, 5 February, in the area of Spey Valley Golf Club.

Specialist officers had been drafted into the search with HM Coastguard and Cairngorm and RAF mountain rescue teams assisting the operation.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We can confirm that the body of a man has been found near Spey Valley GC, Aviemore at 2.30pm on Friday, April 8.

"Formal identification has yet to take place, but the family of missing man James Brannan has been made aware.

"The death is not believed to be suspicious."
