Body found in search for missing woman Gillian Ballantyne

A body has been found in the search for missing woman Gillian Ballantyne.

Police have confirmed that a body was found on Friday evening in the Cumbernauld area.

The 50-year-old had been reported missing from the Bannock area on Tuesday July 6 and hadn't been traced since leaving her home in Coneypark Park around 10am that day.

Police launched an urgent search to trace her but sadly a body was discovered during searches last night.

Gillian's next of kin have been made aware and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
