Body found in search for missing teen who vanished after New Year's Eve party

A body has been found in the search for a teenager who went missing on New Year's Eve.

James McAdam, from Carnforth, Lancashire disappeared after attending a New Year's Eve party in Lancaster.

The 19-year-old had got out of a taxi in Morecambe at 6am the following day, but did not make it home, Lancashire Live reported.

After a search was launched for the teenager on New Year's Day a body was discovered shortly after 12pm today.

It was found on land near Trimpell Sports and Social Club in Morecambe.

Formal identification of the body has not taken place yet, but James' family have been informed.

Morecambe Area Police said: "Police searching for missing teenager James McAdam, 19, have sadly found a body.

"James has been missing since New Year’s Day.

"Officers found the body on land near Trimpell Sports and Social Club in Morecambe shortly after midday today (Saturday, January 2nd).

"Formal identification has not yet taken place.

"James’ family have been informed of the development and are being supported at this time.

"Our thoughts are with them."

Police thanked those in the community who had been helping to look for James.
