Body found in search for missing Swansea Valley dad

Police searching for a missing man from Ystradgynlais have confirmed a body has been found.

According to family and friends Cerith Thomas had not been heard from since Saturday. Social media appeals for Mr Thomas to come home were shared hundreds of times.

Today, Wednesday, October 21, officers from South Wales Police were called to a field in Neath Road, Bryncoch, at 4.15pm, after a report of a sudden death.

They said official identification had not yet taken place, but police have informed Mr Thomas's next of kin.

A South Wales Police spokeswoman said: "We attended a report of a sudden death at about 4.15pm yesterday in a field in Neath Road, Bryncoch.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and has been referred to the HM Coroner."

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman added: “Sadly, a body has been found in the search for Cerith.

"Although official identification has not taken place, his next of kin have been advised and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.”
