Body found in search for missing Scots woman who vanished during storm

A body has been found in search for missing woman Victoria Streight who vanished in Wick.

Victoria was last seen in Wellington Street, Wick at around 7.30am on Saturday October 31 during 'atrocious' weather conditions.

Police said they were growing 'increasingly concerned' after a search was launched.

The grim discovery was made in the Murchison Street area of Wick (Googles Maps)

However, officers have now confirmed a body was recovered in Murchison Street area of Wick shortly after 12pm today.

Although formal identification has yet to take place, Victoria's next of kin have been informed.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.

A spokesperson for the force said: " Police Scotland can confirm that the body of a woman was been found in the Murchison Street area of Wick shortly after 12pm on Sunday, 1 November.

"The body has yet to be formally identified but the next of kin of Victoria Streight, 31, who had been reported missing in the area has been informed."
