Body found in search for missing Scots woman Melita Hachey

A body has been found in the search for a missing Scots woman.

Police Scotland launched a frantic search for 30-year-old Melita Hachey after she was reported missing on the afternoon of Friday February 22.

She was last seen in Livingstone Place, Galashiels.

A large scale police search was launched with specialist drones drafted in to scour the land near Paxton House on the River Tweed .

Officers have confirmed that a body was discovered during their search for her at around 5.30pm last night.

Formal identification is yet to take place, but Melita's family have been informed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police Scotland can confirm that around 5.30pm on Monday, 2 March, 2020, the body of a woman was found in the Kelso area.

"Formal identification has yet to take place however, the family of 30-year-old Melita Hachey who was reported missing from Galashiels on Saturday, 22 February, 2020,  has been informed.

Yesterday a body was also found in the search for missing woman Emilie Anderson .

The 26-year-old vanished on Sunday, March 1 from Galashiels at around 2.30am.

Cops confirmed a body of a female was discovered on Monday at around 3.15pm near the  Borders  town.

Formal identification is yet to take place but her family have been  informed .
