Body found in search for missing Scots mum Elaine McArthur

The body of a woman, believed to be that of missing Scots mum Elaine McArthur, has been discovered.

Police confirmed a body was found at around 11.15am this morning in Granton View in Edinburgh.

The family of Elaine McArthur, who has been missing since April 18, have been made aware of the discovery.

A police spokesperson said: “Police Scotland can confirm that the body of a woman was found in Granton View around 11.15am on Saturday, 25 April, 2020.

"The family of local missing woman Elaine McArthur, missing since Saturday, 18 April, have been made aware of the discovery.

"Formal identification is yet to take place and a post mortem will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death. The death is being treated as unexplained."

We told how Elaine, an ex-midwife, had been described as someone who “dedicated her life to the NHS”, was last seen walking along Crewe Road North in Edinburgh at around 12.40pm on April 18.

Her worried friends and family had issued pleas for information.

Large police searches were spotted at Wardie Bay area of the city earlier this week.
