Body found in search for missing Scots man suffering from dementia

A body has been found in the search for a missing Scots man with dementia.

John Cummings, 65, was last seen at his home in Irvine around 7.30am on Thursday, August 11.

Police confirmed a body was found in the search for him around 11.35am on Friday, August 12, in an area near to Annick Water, Ayrshire.

A formal identification is still to take place but officers have informed John's family.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.

A search was launched when John was reported missing yesterday morning. His family were "very concerned for his welfare" and urged anyone with information to get in touch.

When he was last seen he was wearing brown trousers, a yellow shirt and a black flat cap. He was described as suffering from dementia.
