Body found in search for missing Scots man Scott Lowrie

The body of a man has been found in the search for missing Cumbernauld man Scott Lowrie.

Officers from Police Scotland have confirmed a body was discovered in a wooded area near Abronhill at around 2.55pm this afternoon, December 10.

Formal identification is yet to take place but the family of Scott Lowrie, 50, has been informed.

A post mortem examination will now be carried out.

However, police say the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Scott had been missing since November 28 after he disappeared during a dog walk.

He was last seen heading towards woodlands at the rear of Fannyside Road with his pet.

Scott failed to return despite the Staffordshire Bull Terrier being found safe and well.

A Police Scotland statement read: "Formal identification is yet to take place and a post mortem examination will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious."
