Body found in search for missing Scot as devastated family informed

A body has been found in the search for a missing Scot.

James Turner, 45, was last seen at around 3pm on Tuesday, December 28 in Glynt Wynd, Annan.

Officers believed he left the property in a blue Skoda Octavia car and he had been known to walk, fish and camp in local areas.

Now in a tragic update tonight Dumfries and Galloway police division has said a body has been recovered in the search for him around 11.35am today.

The body is still to be formally identified by James' family have been told of the development at land near Langholm.

A statement from police tonight reads: "The body of a man was found on land near Langholm around 11.35am on Thursday, 30 December.

"He is still to be formally identified, however, the family of James Turner, 48, who was reported missing from his home in Annan on Tuesday, 28 December, has been informed.

"There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
