Body found in search for missing Renton woman Karen Murphy

A body has been found in the search for missing Renton woman Karen Murphy.

Police Scotland confirmed that the body of a woman was recovered from the banks of the River Leven at Dumbarton.

Police say the 53-year-old's family have been informed.

Karen went missing more than four weeks ago, with the last sighting of her leaving Renton train station on Monday, January 13.

She had boarded the train at Hyndland, having left nearby Gartnavel Hospital.

Extensive searches had been taking place across the area since.

Today, police confirmed that formal identification is still to take place.

Inspector Graeme Hogg, from Dumbarton Police Station, said: "Formal identification has yet to take place, however the family of missing 53-year-old woman Karen Murphy have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time."
