Police have found a body in connection to the search of missing Moray man James Thomson.
The 25-year-old, from Burghead, was last spotted in the Young Street area of the town before he was reported missing on Saturday evening.
Police have been carrying out extensive searches of James’ hometown and the surrounding area over the past 24 hours.
Officers have now confirmed that a body of a man has been found in Burghead this evening.
The body is yet to be formally identified. James’ next of kin has been made aware of the discovery.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We can confirm that the body of a man has been found in the Burghead area, following searches for missing man James Thomson.
“The body is still to be formally identified, but James’ next of kin has been made aware.
“Members of the public are thanked for their assistance.”
