Body found in search for missing man Ruairidh Sandison

The family of a young man missing for nearly six weeks have been told of the discovery of a body.

Police confirmed this afternoon that the grim find had been made at Boddam, near Peterhead.

Ruairidh Sandison , 24, was last seen around 5.10am on Saturday, August 10 after a night out with pals in the Aberdeenshire town.

Coastguard teams were called to assist police just after 1pm today.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Formal identification has yet to take place but the family of 24-year-old Ruairidh Sandison have been informed.”

Ruairidh was last seen in the Gadle Braes area and his disappearance sparked a desperate search by emergency services, family and friends.

Despite extensive searches and the deployment of drones and divers there had been no sightings of him.
