Body found in search for missing man Mark Russell in Aberdeenshire

A body has been found by police in the search for missing man Mark Russell in Aberdeenshire.

We previously told how Mark was last spotted on Sunday, July 25, in the Crimond area of Aberdeenshire.

Officers have now confirmed that a body has been found and Mark’s family have been informed.

Police had closed the busy A90 in the St Fergus area this evening just before 5pm.

Traffic Scotland issued warning to drivers in the St Fergus area, north of Peterhead, to avoid the area where possible and expect long delays as the road is closed in both directions.

They say the road is likely to remain closed for some time.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We can confirm that the body of a man has been found during searches in the St Fergus area, Aberdeenshire.

“The family of Mark Russell, 45, missing Crimond, have been informed. Formal identification has yet to take place & a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
