Body found in search for missing man Joel McDiarmid

A body has been found in the search for missing man Joel McDiarmid.

The 28-year-old was missing from the Bathgate area.

Police say formal identification is yet to take place, but Joel's family has been informed.

There are no suspicious circumstances, and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

We previously told how Joel’s family had issued a desperate plea after he was last seen by his family at his home around 4pm on Wednesday, November 17.

Loved ones had shared appeals across social media appealing for him to get in touch.

Joel had not been in contact with friends or family which was described as completely out of character for him.

His brother Ben said on social media: “My brother’s still missing and our family are more worried with each day that passes. It’s completely out of character for Joel to leave without contacting us or his friends."

On November 19 he again wrote: "My brother’s been missing for the past two days and we’re extremely concerned for his welfare.

"If anyone’s seen Joel or thinks they may know where he is please contact the police with any information you have ASAP"

Police previously told how they were growing 'increasingly concerned' for Joel.

West Lothian police had worked with officers in Edinburgh and Glasgow in the search as he was known to travel to the cities.
