A body has been found in the search for missing Scot Murray Tanner after a massive emergency response near a Scots beauty spot.
We told earlier today how emergency crews were called to the scene in the Corehouse area of Lanark by the Falls of Clyde at around 1.45pm.
Pictures from the scene show several police, ambulance and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service vehicles parked in the area near the Bonnington Hydro-electric Power Station.
Cops have now confirmed that the family of missing man Murray Tanner have been informed of the grim discovery- but that formal identification is still to take place.
Murray had been reported missing from his home in the Lapraik Avenue area of Muirkirk.
The 48-year-old was last seen there around 11pm on Monday but has not been seen or heard from since.
His disappearance was described as being out of character and concern was growing for his welfare.
A statement issued tonight by Police Scotland confirmed the tragic news.
It read: "The body of a man has been recovered from the River Clyde near Corehouse in Lanarkshire during the afternoon of Thursday, 26 August.
"The man is yet to be formally identified but the family of Murray Tanner, 48, who was reported missing from Muirkirk in Ayrshire on Monday, 23 August has been informed.
"There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
