Body found in search for missing man

A body found in Warrington has been confirmed as that of missing Adam Smith.

The 31-year-old from Great Sankey was last seen on Friends Lane in the town at approximately 3.15pm on Thursday, January 27.

Cheshire Police confirmed late yesterday (February 13) that a body found in Fiddlers Ferry has been formally identified as that of Adam, who had links to St Helens and Knowsley.

The force said there were no suspicious circumstances and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

On Thursday (February 10), police reissued their appeal to find Adam, who had not been seen for two weeks and had missed his own birthday celebrations.

Police said it was "completely out of character" for him not to have been in touch with family members.
