Body pulled from River Clyde and family of missing Lexi Carmichael informed

A body has been pulled from the River Clyde in Glasgow by police.

Cops confirmed the body of a woman had been found in the river on Monday, January 6.

It is believed to be that of missing 21-year-old Lexi Carmichael.

Police are liaising with her family but formal identification is yet to take place.

Lexi vanished after leaving the Counting House boozer near George Square just after 11pm on December 11.

She was last seen on St. Vincent Place in the city at 11.05pm but hasn't been spotted since.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Police Scotland can confirm that the body of a woman was recovered from the River Clyde in Glasgow on Monday, 6 January.

"Formal identification is yet to take place, however it is believed to be 21-year-old Lexi Carmichael, who was last seen on Wednesday, 11 December, 2019.

"Her family have been made aware.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
