Body found in search for missing Irishman Pat McCormick

A man's body has been found in Co Down by police investigating the suspected murder of Pat McCormick.

The 55-year-old was last seen alive in Comber on the evening of Thursday, May 30.

Shortly after his disappearance police launched a murder investigation, Belfast Live reports.

Following the discovery, Detective Chief Inspector Pete Montgomery, who is leading the investigation, said: “I can confirm that a man’s body has been found in the Ballygowan area.

"I am unable to confirm the identity of the man until a formal identification process has taken place. A post mortem is also being conducted.”

Just yesterday police investigating Mr McCormick's murder released CCTV images of a van which they wanted to trace.

A reward of £10,000 was also offered last month of information which would led to the recovery of his body.
