Body found in search for missing 20-year-old Lewis Simpson

A body found recovered from the River Clyde has been linked to the search for a missing man.

As reported on Glasgow Live, Lewis Simpson was reported missing after leaving his East Kilbride home and was last seen with friends in Glasgow's city centre on John Street at around 1am on February 23.

Following reports of a man's body be found in the water near Mavisbank Gardens around 11.45am this morning (Wednesday, 25), Police Scotland confirmed that they believe it to be the missing 20-year-old.

A spokesperson said: “The man is still to be formally identified but the family of 20-year-old Lewis Simpson – who had been reported missing on Sunday, 23 February, 2020 – have been informed.

"The death is been treated as unexplained, however there are no apparent suspicious circumstances surrounding his death."
