Police have confirmed that a body has been found in the search for missing 20-year-old Connor Boggon.
Mr Boggon, from Merthyr was last seen on Sunday, February 23 at around 4.30am in the Dowlais area.
Police launched an appeal on Sunday asking for his whereabouts and described his disappearance and lack of contact as "out of character."
A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "We can confirm that a body of a man was located on Monday (24 Feb) in a wooded area of Cyfarthfa Park.
"Police were called by a member of the public who made the discovery at approximately 4.15pm.
"No formal identification has yet been made but the family of missing man Connor Boggon have been advised and are currently being supported.
"An investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is ongoing and a post mortem is due to be carried out later today."
Moving tributes have been paid to Mr Boggon on social media by friends who have posted pictures and messages.
One friend Shaun Williams wrote: "Feeling absolutely devastated writing this.. most funniest unpredictable boy I’ve ever met, had some awesome memories from partying, fishing , trips away, Jeeps , camping just chilling in the flat!
"Will always have a place in my heart boy , Love you brother! Connor Boggon you was one of a kind boy! All of us was always there for you from day one xx"
Another, posted by Morgan Marshall said: "Absolutely devastating news again another young person taken way to soon gonna miss you brother i will always cherish the memories I have of you sleep tight my boy until we meet again."
