Officers were concerned as Helen had been struggling with memory loss.

At the time Sergeant Adam Hookway said: “Helen has started to have issues with her memory and her family and police are concerned due to the cold weather.

“Although Helen is 89, she walks every day, covering approximately a mile at a time."

A couple of hours later Police Scotland confirmed that a body had found.

While formal identification is yet to take place, Helen's family have been informed.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson from the force told the Record: "Police in East Dunbartonshire can confirm a body has been found in the search for missing woman Helen Maider in the Bishopbriggs area.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious."
