A BODY has been found in a Scottish reservoir after a search operation which ran over Christmas Day, police have confirmed.
Officers were first called out to Gartmorn Dam in Clackmannanshire at around 12.20pm on Christmas Eve, with suggestions that two men had run into trouble while fishing.
"Two men went fishing in a boat. The boat and men were gone but all their fishing gear was seen floating,” one person wrote on social media.
Officers searching for the missing men found one body on Boxing Day.
The second man is still missing, and police say a search operation using “specialist resources” is ongoing.
While no official identification has taken place, the families of both men have been made aware.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of concern for two men in the area of Gartmorn Dam near Sauchie around 12.20pm on Sunday, 24 December.
"Around 12.30pm on Tuesday, 26 December, the body of a man was found. Formal identification has yet to take place but both families have been made aware.
“Searches using specialist resources are continuing."
Clackmannanshire Council said the reservoir is closed to anglers.
