Body found in Scots quarry during search for missing Scots mum Joanne Walker

A body has been found in the search for a missing Scots mum who vanished in Clackmannanshire.

Joanne Walker was last seen leaving her home in Stalker Avenue, Tillicoultry, at around 10pm on Friday.

Her worried family reported her missing at 11.15pm the following day and her disappearance was described as “out of character”.

A frantic police search was launched to try to find the 54-year-old.

But officers were called to Tillicoultry Quarry at around 3.30pm on Sunday after a woman’s body was discovered.

While formal identification is still to take place, Joanne’s family have been informed of the tragic find.

Officers say they are not treating the death as suspicious.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers can confirm that the body of a woman was found in Tillicoultry Quarry around 3.30pm on Sunday, 12 July.

“The family of local missing woman, Joanne Walker, missing since Saturday, 11 July, have been made aware of the discovery.

“Formal identification is yet to take place and a post mortem will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
