Body found in River Tweed identified as missing Scots woman

A body found in the River Tweed has sadly been identified as missing Scots woman Michelle Pettie.

The 45-year-old vanished from Melrose in the Scottish Borders on Saturday, September 3. Specialist resources had been drafted into the policing operation to locate Michelle but tragically, her body was discovered on Sunday, September 25.

Officers investigating her death are treating it as unexplained. Inquiries into the incident remain ongoing at this stage.

A statement from Police Scotland reads: "The body of a woman found in the River Tweed at Lowood Bridge Melrose, has been formally identified as 45-year-old Michelle Pettie. Michelle had been reported missing from the Melrose area since Saturday, September 3.

"Her body was discovered around 12.20pm on Sunday, September 25. The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries remain ongoing."
