Body found in River Dee in search for missing woman Elle Mundie

A body has been found in the search for missing Scots woman Elle Mundie.

The 66-year-old was reported missing from the Laurencekirk area of Aberdeenshire on Sunday and was last seen in Union Square around 2pm.

Police today confirmed that a body was recovered from the River Dee in the search for her this morning.

Formal identification is yet to take place but Elle's family have been informed.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The body of a woman was recovered from the River Dee this morning.

"Formal identification is yet to take place but the family of missing woman Elle Mundie, known as Smith have been informed.

"There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death."
