Body found in River Clyde believed to missing Lexi Carmichael, police say

A body found in the River Clyde is believed to be missing 21-year-old Lexi Carmichael, police say.

Police Scotland earlier advised a body had been found in the river on Monday night.

Officers have now confirmed it is believed to be Lexi, who was last seen on Wednesday, December 11, and her family have now been informed.

Her death is not being treated as suspicious.

A Police Scotland statement released this evening said: "Police Scotland can confirm that the body of a woman was recovered from the River Clyde in Glasgow on Monday, 6 January.

"Formal identification is yet to take place, however it is believed to be 21-year-old Lexi Carmichael, who was last seen on Wednesday, 11 December, 2019.

"Her family have been made aware.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
