Body found in River Clyde amid search for missing Scot

A BODY has been found in the River Clyde during the search for a missing man. 

Police confirmed the body of a man was recovered from the Clyde near Pointhouse Place in Glasgow at around 9.20am on Thursday. 

Formal identification is yet to take place but officers said the family of Michael Patrick Dougan, who was reported missing from the Kirkton Avenue area, have been informed.

An investigation is underway but police do not believe there to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 9.20am on Thursday, January 4, 2024, a man’s body was recovered from the River Clyde near Pointhouse Place in Glasgow.

"No formal identification has taken place, however, officers believe the man to be 50-year-old Michael Patrick Dougan who was reported missing from Kirkton Avenue in Glasgow on Thursday, December 21, 2023.

"His next of kin have been informed and enquiries are ongoing. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death."
