Body found in river amid search for missing Scots man on Isle of Lewis

Police searching for a missing man on the Isle of Lewis have discovered a body in a remote river.

The grim discovery was made at around 8am on Tuesday, October 12, at Tarstol Burn near Loch Street in Barvas.

The man has yet to be formally identified however the family of Donnie Scott, who was reported missing yesterday, have been informed.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

Officers previously appealed for help to trace the 42-year-old as concern for his welfare grew.

But the tragic update was issued by Police Scotland early on Tuesday afternoon.

A force spokesperson said: “Around 8am on Tuesday, 12 October, 2021, the body of a man was found at Tarstol Burn, near to Loch Street, Barvas, on the Isle of Lewis.

“The man has yet to be formally identified but the family of Donnie Scott, 42, reported missing from the Barvas area has been informed.

“There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
