Body found in quarry during search for missing Tillicoultry woman Joanne Walker

The body of a woman was discovered in Tillicoultry Quarry amidst a search to trace a mum who vanished.

Police issued an appeal on Sunday to help trace Joanne Walker, who was last seen at her home in Stalker Avenue at around 10pm on Friday.

The 54-year-old’s concerned family reported her missing on Saturday, saying it was “out of character” for Joanne to be away from her family for that length of time.

However, police were called to the quarry at around 3.30pm on Sunday after a woman’s body was discovered.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The family of local missing woman, Joanne Walker, missing since Saturday, July 11, have been made aware of the discovery.

“Formal identification is yet to take place and a postmortem will carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death.”

The death is not being treated as suspicious.
