ORLANDO, Fla. _ The body of a young woman or teenage girl was found Thursday morning in a pond Orange County deputies had been searching since someone was seen flailing in the water on Wednesday, the Sheriff's Office said.
According to sheriff's spokesman Jeff Williamson, the Sheriff's Office Marine Unit found the body of a female victim who appeared to be in her late teens or early 20s about 6:30 a.m. as they were resuming the search.
The body was "in perfect condition," Williamson said _ showing no signs of alligator bites.
On Wednesday, authorities had said they were looking for a boy, possibly a teenager, who had been seen by a witness flailing in the water while yelling, "It bit me."
The witness alerted authorities, prompting more than a dozen emergency vehicles, several helicopters and alligator trappers to respond to the pond, which is in a neighborhood of Regan Avenue, near Goldenrod and Colonial Drive.
The man told deputies he could see the shirtless boy through a pair of binoculars.
Authorities said a six-foot alligator was found during Wednesday's search of the pond _ too small to inflict serious damage on a human, they said.
The victim found Thursday morning has not been publicly identified. Williamson said the Sheriff's Office never received any missing-person reports from the area during Wednesday's search.
