Body found in police search for vulnerable man Philip Devine missing in Wishaw

Police searching for a vulnerable man missing from Wishaw have recovered a body.

A major search was launched for Philip Devine, known locally as Dean, after he vanished from the town's Lomond Drive on Friday morning.

He was reported missing after failing to return home - something "out of character" for the 51-year-old.

Police have now confirmed that his body has been discovered, with no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

Officers made the heartbreaking discovery near to Waterlands Road, Waterloo, Wishaw around 5pm yesterday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Mr Devine’s body was recovered near to Waterlands Road, Waterloo, Wishaw around 5pm yesterday Sunday 26 May 2019.

"His family is aware. 

"There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
