Body found in Perth bushland is female, homicide police investigating

Detectives and forensic officers have returned to the scene.

Police say a body found in bushland south-east of Perth is believed to be that of a woman aged in her 30s.

A member of the public called police early on Sunday morning after discovering the body in an area off Canning Dam Road in Bedfordale, about 30 kilometres from Perth.

Police commissioner Chris Dawson also confirmed officers were treating the death as a homicide, but would not provide further details.

"We understand that the victim is a woman in her late 30s," he said.

"We are presently going through identification of that deceased person. It's a tragic situation."

Canning Dam Road in Bedfordale was cordoned off for most of yesterday while police searched the area.

Detectives and forensic officers have returned to the scene today.
