Body found in missing person search in Lisburn, Northern Ireland

Police searching for a missing person have recovered a body.

Cops carrying out an investigation into the disappearance of Alwyn O'Brien made the grim discovery in the Causeway Road end area of Lisburn today, the PSNI said.

A spokesperson said: "A postmortem will be carried out to determine the cause of death, however, it is not being treated as suspicious at this time."

The Community Rescue Service were tasked in the early hours of Monday, Belfast Live reports.

They said: "Teams were tasked in the early hours of this morning to the Lisburn area to help in the search for a missing person.

"It is with sadness that we inform you that a body was located believed to be that of the missing person.

"The management and volunteers of the Community Rescue Service extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of the deceased."
