Body found in Loch Lomond near Cameron House after police and rescue boat search

Mystery surrounds the discovery of a man’s body recovered from Loch Lomond on Sunday.

The man’s death, currently being treated as ‘unexplained’, was confirmed by police officers after his body was discovered by a member of the Loch Lomond Rescue Boat team at around 2pm.

The alarm had been raised after an inflatable boat, with the keys still in the ignition, was washed ashore near Cameron House.

An investigation into the cause of the incident is still ongoing.

Clinton Salter, coxswain for Loch Lomond Rescue Boat, said: “It was one of the boys from the rescue boat who found the body.

“He had obviously been in the water for quite some time and the boat was not too far away. He was alone and we have no idea how he got himself into that situation.

“Our team member who found him is in the police as well. We have a few volunteers who are also in the police and that’s quite good because they will sometimes receive calls before we do.”

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are underway to establish the cause.”
