Body found in Kilpatrick Hills in search for missing dad

A body has been found in the Kilpatrick Hills in search for missing Glasgow dad Stephen McPhail.

Stephen, 43, known as Stef, vanished at around 8.20am on Saturday morning in Drumry Road East - in the Drumchapel area of the city.

His shattered issued desperate pleas for his safe return home and his daughters posted messages saying: "Come home dad, we need you".

However officers confirmed the tragic discovery near Loch Humphrey this morning.

A spokesman said: "Police Scotland can confirm around 2.35 pm on Tuesday, June 18, the body of a man was found in woodland near to Loch Humphrey, West Dunbartonshire. 

"A formal identification has still to take place however officers believe the man to be 43-year-old Stephen McPhail, who was last seen walking on Great Western Road towards Dumbarton, on Saturday, June 15.

"His family has been informed and a report will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal. 

"There are no suspicious circumstances around the death."
