Body found in Inverness woods formally identified as missing Scot George Critch

Police have formally identified the body found in a Scots woodland as that of missing man George Critch.

We told of the grim discovery near to Great Glen Way in Craig Phadrig Woods, Inverness around 7pm on Wednesday, July 7.

Cops have since made a formal identification and say that there are not thought to be suspicious circumstances.

A statement released by Highland police today reads: "Police Scotland can now confirm that the body of a man found near to Great Glen Way, within Craig Phadraig Woods, Inverness, on Wednesday, 7 July, has been formally identified as 63-year-old George Critch.

"His family have been informed and request that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.

"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a full report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

A massive search was launched for George after he went missing including specialist resources including helicopters, dog units, and local mountain rescue teams.
