Officers who had been searching for Geoff thanked members of the public for their support during the search and relatives have asked those who put up missing man posters of the 61-year-old to now take them down.

In recent days, his daughter Megan had asked for help, and appealed: "Please, I am asking anyone who can walk around the weir/Latchford area looking for my dad to help us.

"Possible sighting at Black Bear Bridge, near Victoria Park.

"He could be anywhere, his passion is fishing so we've mainly been looking at lakes and rivers.

"If you know my dad he may have mentioned at some point he'd like to go fishing or walking - so please just think if he could of mentioned anywhere nearby.

"We're just desperate for help in bringing my dad home. If you do see him try and comfort him and reassure him we are not mad at him leaving and we just want him home safe. "
