Body found in Firth of Forth as police cordon off town promenade

Emergency services are at the scene of Kirkcaldy's Esplanade after a body was discovered in the Firth of Forth.

The area has been taped off by police, with ambulance crews also in attendance.

Photographs taken at the location show several officers within the cordon – which has been erected at the promenade in the Fife town.

Officers remain in the area, and the death is being treated as unexplained.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers are currently in attendance in the Esplanade area of Kirkcaldy following the discovery of a body within the water.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained and emergency services remain at the scene."
