Body found in Firth of Forth as emergency crews race to scene

A probe has been launched after a body was found in the Firth of Forth this morning.

Emergency services are understood to still be at the scene after the grim discovery was made at around 10.30am at the water between Bo'Ness and Blackness.

Police have said they are working to identify the person and trace their family.

It is unclear at this time what gender or age the person is.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 10.30am on Monday, 8 February, police received a report of a body in the water between Bo'Ness and Blackness.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the person.

"Emergency services remain at the scene."
