Body found in Falls of Clyde as emergency crews launch major recovery operation

A major recovery operation is underway at the Falls of Clyde after a body was tragically found in the water.

Emergency services were called to the scene in the Corehouse area of Lanark at around 1.45pm on Thursday, August 26.

Pictures from the scene show several police, ambulance and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service vehicles parked in the area near the Bonnington Hydro-electric Power Station.

Police Scotland confirmed the grim discovery and said that first responders remain at the scene.

A spokesperson said: “Officers are currently in attendance in the Corehouse area of Lanark following the discovery of a body within water.

“A multiagency recovery operation is currently underway. Police remain at the scene.”

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for comment.
