Body found in Edinburgh woods near recycling centre as cops probe unexplained death

The body of a man has been found in a wooded area in Edinburgh, sparking a major police investigation.

At around 1pm on Saturday the man was found dead near Old Dalkeith Road, in the Craigmillar area of the city.

Officers from Police Scotland are treating the death as unexplained.

Enquiries are ongoing into the grim find near the Craigmillar Recycling Centre.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman told the Record: “At around 1pm on Saturday, August 22 the body of a man was found in a wooded area near Old Dalkeith Road, Edinburgh.

"The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances.”

As a result of the find the recycling centre will be closed today and tomorrow while cops carry out their investigation.

Edinburgh Council Help, the Edinburgh City Council official customer service team released a statement informing locals that nearby Household Waste Recycling Centre, also known as Craigmillar Recycling Centre, would be closed on Sunday and Monday as a result of the incident.

It read: "Craigmillar Recycling centre will be closed today as well as tomorrow due to an ongoing police incident.

"Tuesday’s opening times will be reviewed and updated as of Monday Afternoon.

"We apologise for any inconveniences."
