A body was found in a conference room on the Apple campus in Cupertino, California on Wednesday, according to the local sheriff’s office.

A person was found unresponsive after an emergency call was placed around 8.35 am, and the individual was pronounced dead on the scene. The San Jose Mercury News reported that a male employee was discovered with a “head wound”.

The local ABC7 news station reported that authorities had said a gun was found next to the body.

Apple spokespeople and the Santa Clara County sheriff’s office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The campus of the technology company is located at 1 Infinite Loop in Cupertino, 45 miles south of San Francisco.

According to audio obtained by TMZ, a sheriff’s dispatcher said it “looks like security was escorting the employee down and ... units are just now arriving”.

A spokeswoman for the sheriff told reporters on the scene that no one else was involved and said the death was an “isolated incident”, adding that nobody else on campus or in the public was at risk.

The Santa Clara County medical examiner coroner’s office will determine the cause of death, according to the sheriff’s office.
