Body found in children's play park at tourist hotspot

A body has been found in a children's seaside play park on a street packed with hotels, pubs and restaurants.

The grim discovery was made at 7am on Monday morning near to the beach in Paignton, Devon.

The tourist town's seafront has been sealed off as has the park, surrounding roads and some buildings.

Police are continuing to investigate the sudden death, reports DevonLive.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said: "Police are in attendance following reports of the sudden death of a person discovered at around 7.10am this morning in the Esplanade Road area of Paignton.

"Emergency services are on the scene. A scene guard is in place.

"The incident is ongoing and enquiries are continuing."

One local woman said: “It’s so sad. Too sad to even think about. Yesterday that park was swarming with children, including my grandchildren. There must have been 500 kiddies in the sunshine.”
