Body found in bushland south of Brisbane identified as missing woman

It is understood the woman's body may have been in bushland for some time.

A body found in bushland in Slacks Creek, south of Brisbane, on Monday afternoon has been identified as missing Springwood woman Simone Rothe, police have confirmed.

Ms Rothe, 44, was last seen at a home on Westmoreland Boulevard in Springwood in the mid-afternoon on July 14.

Her body was discovered at a park in Slacks Creek about 1:00pm while emergency crews, including State Emergency Service officers and police divers, were searching for Ms Rothe.

It is understood the body may have been there for some time.

After a post-mortem examination was carried out, police confirmed it was Ms Rothe and said her death was no longer being treated as suspicious.

"Indications at this point is it's likely to be the missing person, however, we won't know that until such time a post-mortem has been conducted," Detective Inspector Tod Reid said on Monday.

At that time, police were appealing for information about Ms Rothe's disappearance.

Detective Inspector Reid said Ms Rothe "had a discernible limp and walked most of the time using a crutch".

"That would be quite noticeable if you happen to have seen her in the area." Detective Inspector Reid said.

Ms Rothe was described as being 175 centimetres tall, of slim build, with blue eyes, a tanned complexion and long brown hair.

Officers appealed for anyone who may have further information to contact police.
