Body found in bushes not identified as death ruled 'not suspicious'

A police cordon remains in place after a man's body was found in bushes in Liverpool city centre as efforts to identify the deceased continue today.

The discovery was made in bushes near Bestway Cash and Carry, close to the Wallasey Tunnel entrance, shortly before 1pm on Wednesday.

Police cordoned off the scene around Kingsway Park yesterday.

A police presence remains at the taped off scene this morning.

Police said they don't suspect foul play and the man's death is not being treated as suspicious. As yet his identity remains unknown.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "The death of the man found near the Wallasey Tunnel is not being treated as suspicious at this stage."

The circumstances surrounding the man's death are still being investigated.
