Body found in area of trees next to Leeds M621 junction

A man's body has been found in an area of trees near the M621.

West Yorkshire Police were called to the scene near junction seven of the motorway just after 8am this morning.

The exit slip road westbound at junction seven for the A61 and Stourton was closed and a police scene put in place.

A man who lives nearby, who did not wish to be named, told LeedsLive: "I was out with my dog at about 8:15am and I saw loads of police and fire engines down the sliproad. I couldn’t see what it was but there was a lot of them there.

“The traffic was bad - but it’s always bad in the morning isn’t it?”

A statement from West Yorkshire Police said: "At 8.04am today (2/12) police were called to a report of the body of man in an area of trees next to junction 7 of the M621 in Leeds.

"The anti-clockwise exit slip road has been closed and a scene is in place while the circumstances of the death are established."

A spokesman later added: "There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Coroner."
